Art, seeing and making, is very much like a spiritual journey for me; with many of the same physical, mental, emotional, advantages others claim through religion. I appreciate that VVG didn’t say it was “like” faith, but instead said it “is a faith.” And to articulate what seems to me to be a fundamental corollary of any true faith, he added “it poses the duty to disregard pubic opinion.” Or really the opinion of others in general.
A good bit of perspective, I would say.
Tiempo. Mi enemigo. Mi amigo. Temps. Mon ennemi. Mon ami.
I’ve just begun.
Sometimes its all about intersectionality: the organic and the mechanical; the familiar and the unknown; art and waste; immortality and invisibility; the healthy and the ill; the new and the old; the never started and the never finished among so many other things.
